The rule change focused on reduction of waste of tax dollars by ensuring consistent eligibility requirements and focusing on SNAP as a way to help people be more self sufficient and get into the workforce. Previously, there were numerous loopholes, include no income screening that allowed abuse of our tax dollars. https://www.fns.usda.gov/usda-019619.

As a taxpayer. I urge the government to conduct on-going analyses of waste in spending for every government program.

Since the people of this country have already paid into SNAP with their tax dollars, Trump has NO RIGHT to take away that which has already been paid from the people of this country. Who is Trump to dictate who can and cannot eat, when he has already taken millions of dollars from people through his many many bankruptcies, using foreign countries to throw many people under the bus. It is Trump who NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM THE WHITE HOUSE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE before he destroys any more of the existing democracy that was built before he illegally became president. What needs to done, is to take back the White House and all of the rights that he and his corrupt cronies, to right the wrongs done by all these ignorant imbeciles of his pack of rats. I say, TRUMP HAS NO RIGHT living in that White House. So he has no business messing with SNAP or any other program that people have already paid into with their taxes. I say HANDS OFF THE SNAP PROGRAM, and I am STRONGLY OPPOSED to the meddling of Which Trump continues to try and destroy the rights of the people. NO ONE elected that over grown imbecile into office, he paid his way in illegally and needs to be banished and locked away with his low level Vice president Pence in a cell forever.

We weaken ourselves as a nation if you do not strive to make food accessible to vulnerable populations. Children and older adults need to have food to live. Why in the world would we take food from those who need it most?

This would further marginalize our vulnerable groups, particularly the elderly and our children, and even some of the working poor. The backlash it would likely cause will be a ripple effect that could cost even more in ways to come that are not considered in the short-sightedness of immediate budget cuts and appears to be a knee jerk action. The long run toll it would take on our society is unforeseen.

I think social workers, as a professional and humanitarian group, should do all it can to ally itself with like-minded groups, e.g. AARP-in opposing such draconian cuts and should also advocate for even more needed funding for SNAP.

These types of spending cuts not only target and cause harm to low income Americans they represent a culture of lack of compassion for the less fortunate. There are plenty of other areas in the federal budget to save a measly 10 billion dollars. We can do better.

Why cut assistance for the basic human need to eat?

Everyday children in the US go hungry and what sustaining them is school breakfast and lunch. There is no ethical, practical, educational or moral justification for cutting this.
